Linux

v4

One 64-bit archive for the desktop. Unpack it and start it: nothing is installed system wide.

  • The same application from the same source, with the same toolset and the same 26 languages.
  • Any current 64-bit desktop distribution: Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Arch and what derives from them.
  • Phones are driven as a normal user, with the usual Android udev rules on Debian and Ubuntu.

macOS

in progress

The same application, being prepared for the Mac.

  • Nothing about crb is tied to one operating system: the filesystem, image and patching work is all its own.
  • Announcements go out on Telegram first.

A licence is needed to run it

crb is paid software and there is no trial version. Downloading and installing it costs nothing, and the sign in screen is where a licence is bought and where it is used.

Sign in once with your crb account and the application activates itself. It keeps working offline for a couple of days and then has to reach the licence server again.

  • You pay once for the period you choose. Nothing renews automatically, and your payment details never reach us.
  • One user, on as many machines as you like, one of them active at a time: log out on one and carry on with the other.
  • If the machine is gone and you cannot log out, the seat is not released early. It frees when that session expires.

Before you start

What the machine needs

Operating system
Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit, on x64 or on ARM64. Or a current 64-bit x86 Linux desktop.
Disk space
Enough for the firmware, its unpacked contents and what you build. A current flagship ROM comfortably wants 60 GB or more free on the drive holding your projects.
Memory
8 GB is enough. Extraction, building and packing stream through a bounded window, so a 7 GB partition does not need 7 GB of RAM.
Dependencies
Nothing to install. WSL is not used, a Linux distribution is not needed on Windows, and no external command line tools are called anywhere.
For device work
A USB cable. Android mode needs USB debugging turned on; bootloader, fastbootd and Samsung download mode need the matching USB driver on Windows, and on Debian and Ubuntu the usual Android udev rules.
Integrity
Every package ships a signature file that sits beside the executable. The application checks it at launch and refuses to run without it.
